do you always have to map out the difference between the means to tell if there is a main effect between the two variables or is there some way of telling from the raw scores?

At this point I understand the basic math that we are doing to get our answers, and understand that we are evaluating the strength between 3 independent variables now instead of two with a t-test. And now we have ANOVA- analysis of variance which is the most widely used test in statistical research- which makes sense if the aim is to be thorough.
